Embracing The Gift

She is a self taught artist, her paintings, most of which depict life, landscape, and people, are so breathtaking --- they almost look real. A gifted child who began drawing visions of God, heaven and expressions of her spiritual connection  at the ageof 4,  Akiane Kramarik  has touched the lives of so many people with her works which also includes poetry, playing the piano, and writing books in which she further shares to the world her life and dreams. 

I first found out about Akiane when she appeared on a feature video: CNN Feature - "Drawing Heaven" . She was 12 back then and when she talked about her dreams, her faith God so passionately, it only confirmed my belief that divinity is real and it flows within us, manifesting undeniably through the hearts of the young and innocent ones. 

At 17, she has now blossomed into a fine young lady who continues to inspire the world with her art. I am truly blown away by this girl's light and wisdom. Such an honor and a dream alike to feature her here on Soulspeak, along with other 'teachers' who constantly participate in the creative force of the Universe and in spreading awareness of our gifts through their experiences, talents, and art. 

How has life changed for you since that day you shared your gift with the world? Are the dreams and visions the same? Has it been intensified or less vivid?
Besides the television appearances, art exhibits and meeting people from all over the world my life has not changed too much. I still self educate and I am still using similar artistic methods and right now because of my two older brothers moving out,   I became a teacher to my two younger brothers. Through my traveling to different countries and experiencing different cultures I became more aware of the world and exited about depicting it unique way.

Since I was blessed with two younger brothers: Aurelius, four and Ilia, 10 , most of my spare time i end up teaching them.  Ilia has dictated over 40 books and published his first book at age 6 which I am very proud of (www. iliapoetry.com). Most of my open visions and dreams faded. But they have manifested in most profound artistic impressions that are subconsious. In other words, i end up painting different dimensions without consciously remembering them .

I've seen some of your interviews where you talked about the critics  -- can you talk about this experience, and how you remained strong and steady to this day? 
Some said really nasty things like, '' Burn your paintings~ they are the works of the devil'' -''You are the Satan's daughter''-'' Akiane hasn't painted any of her works '' -She's a fake''-   and etc .  My family and the over flowing positive fan letters and emails, had kept me going throughout years . i simply do not pay attention to hate. I surround myself with only positive god's light and energy.

Your dreams and aspirations other than what you have embraced so far (art, music, poetry), do you see yourself embracing other passions?
I am very interested in cooking, claymation, photography and textile/design arts.

What was the most inspiring feedback that a fan has ever said about your work?
Many times I hear parents  burdened with losing a son, daughter, mother or father and they find themselves living without hope. They seriously want to take their life away in most cases. And when they come across my paintings and my poetry , just hearing them say ‘’ you gave me hope and a purpose to live now, you changed my life’’ it keeps me grounded. My hope is that i keep the hope of eternal life real.

I know you're very young but at this point do you have any regrets? Anything you had wished to do before but didn't have a chance to experience? 
I do regret not having lasting friendships. My family's values are unique : We accept all races, all cultures, all faiths and backgrounds, but despite that we haven’t found true friendships yet.  But over all i am very happy as my family is my biggest strength and support

I write poetry, and stories and I resonate with you, that there is a higher power guiding us who follow our hearts ... has there ever been a time that you felt that you do not have the energy to do what you do best? How do you keep yourself motivated in changing times?
There were  a few times I couldn't go any further--  too much pressure and no inspiration that was weakening me. But then  thinking of the people I can help and inspire was a motivation. On the other hand,  it's virtually impossible for me to stop painting, it is in my blood…I’m an artist, that’s what I am…if I have a stumbling block, that lasts no more than a few days.(must be a good current in my arteries)

On Love.
Love: if you put others before you- you are already abundantly rich. You might think that you need special time to create and your family is taking time away from you— but remember, a happy family is your road to success. Helping them is helping you is helping the whole world.

If you were to ask a question , just one question and God would give you the answer. What question would you ask?
''What is the purpose of extreme suffering ?''.

Do you ever feel like you've been here before? In a past life? Do you ever dream of this life?
There are multiple times I felt I was somewhere else at the same time existing in two different worlds.

How does the future look like to you? 
To me, my future is unpredictably exciting,  I have goals I would want to accomplish like publishing my 3rd and 4th book by 2012-2013, create my own art supplies like brushes, paints, canvas and release my music CD.

Also I would really want to visit remote villages in Russia and Asia,  meet world leaders, counsel and, of course, continue  with my art and poetry.

I like what you said -- about your painting being like your child, and you need to nurture this child, can you talk more about this deep connection with your spirit? 
When you spend 400 hours on a painting 6 days a week 3-5 hours a day, you will understand why I say it is like a child growing  in a womb. You have it in a seed stage after weeks of molding and sculpting forming, while painting you tend to show all raw emotions , the canvas soaks all of its energy just like a baby. You start to feel every brush stroke with the tips of your fingers tickling your whole body. When a painting is finally completed, made from hard work, sweat, focus, energy and love you start feeling its heart beat coming to life. Every single painting that I created has a heart beat if you listen... you can really hear it.

Your ONE MESSAGE to the world.
Our future is our present. If we take care of it, we take care of tomorrow. The start and finish line is love. I know I am just one person, but I wish that with each brushstroke and with each verse I could bring hope to those who have lost it.
